Elton John Catches COVID-19, Postpones Gigs

Legendary pianist Sir Elton John will not be tickling the ivories for the next few weeks after testing positive for the coronavirus (COVID-19).

The 74-year-old popstar was forced to put off two of his shows in Dallas, Texas, this week. The gigs form part of his ongoing “Farewell Yellow Brick Road” world tour.

He was expected to play at the American Airlines Center on Tuesday, 25 January, and the following day, but on the day of the first concert, the venue released a statement saying that both performances have been postponed.

They added: “Fans should hold on to their tickets as they will be honored at the rescheduled dates to be announced soon.”

Fortunately the “Can You Feel the Love Tonight” hitmaker has received his COVID-19 vaccine jabs and is only struggling with “mild symptoms”, per his Instagram Stories on the same day.

“It’s always a massive disappointment to move shows and I’m so sorry to anyone who’s been inconvenienced by this but I want to keep myself and my team safe,” he added.

The beloved muso ended the message on an optimistic note: “As always, thank you all for your love and support and I can’t wait to see you all soon!”
