Eagles set for Ireland friendly
The Namibian senior cricket team is currently playing a host of friendly T20 and 50-over matches in preparation for its T20 World Cup debut later this year in Australia.
The Namibian Eagles, as the team is known, has already played five T20 matches against the Ireland A side known as the Wolves, losing the friendly series 4-1, as well as one 50-over match, which they lost with Ireland winning by 49 runs.
The two teams will meet in a 50-over match today at the SuperSport Park in Centurion, Pretoria, followed by their last encounter on Thursday at the Irene Cricket Oval, also in Pretoria.
These matches are also in preparation of the home series which they will play against the touring Netherlands side in March at Wanderers in Windhoek.
Nepal and Scotland will play a triangular series in Windhoek during April, forming part of the ICC World Cup League two series (2019-2022), in which Namibia is currently in fourth position out of seven teams.
The Ireland series has provided Eagles coach Pierre de Bruyn with an opportunity to introduce newcomers such as fast bowler Ruben Trumpelmann and batsman Nicol Loftie-Eaton.
