Dolly Parton has reassured fans that she is in good health, after online speculation and a recent heartfelt Facebook post from her sister, Freida Parton, sparked concern.

On Wednesday, 8 October, the 79-year-old country music icon shared a light-hearted video on Instagram and YouTube, in which she jokingly said: “I ain’t dead yet! Do I look sick to you? I’m working hard here.”

Parton explained that she has been receiving minor treatments near her home in Nashville, Tennessee, after neglecting her health while caring for her husband, Carl Dean, who passed away earlier this year at the age of 82.

“When he passed, I didn’t take care of myself,” she admitted. “The doctor said: ‘We need to take care of this and that.’ Nothing major.”

Her sister later apologised for alarming fans, clarifying that Parton was merely “a little under the weather”.

Parton postponed her residency in Las Vegas, Nevada, and an awards appearance due to what she called “health challenges”, but insisted she remains full of energy and faith.

Ending her message with humour, she said: “I’m not ready to die yet. I don’t think God is through with me, and I ain’t done working.”
