Diego Maradona Admitted to Hospital in Argentina

Diego Maradona was rushed to hospital on Monday, 2 November, after he reported feeling unwell with undisclosed health problems, which are said to not be related to COVID-19, and his condition is not life-threatening.

According to his personal doctor, Leopoldo Luque, the former Argentine footballer has been sick for some time and was admitted for observation. He is set to undergo a series of medical check-ups, which could take about three days.

The 1986 World Cup winner currently coaches the Argentine SuperLiga club, Gimnasia y Esgrima. He was last seen in public on Friday, 30 October, ahead of his team’s match against Patronato.

It was also his 60th birthday, and he was presented with a commemorative plaque by the Argentinian Football Association president, Claudio Tapia.

However, the weak-looking Maradona was forced to leave the stadium before kick-off to watch Gimnasia’s 3-0 victory from home due to his illness.

His daughter, Giannina, tweeted and said: “It breaks my heart to see him like this.”

Luque confirmed that: “He [Maradona] is not well psychologically, and that has an impact on his physical wellbeing”.
