Bournemouth Soar to EPL Second After Forest Win
Bournemouth’s remarkable rise in the English Premier League (EPL) continued as Andoni Iraola’s side climbed to second place with a confident 2-0 victory over Nottingham Forest on Sunday, 26 October.
Marcus Tavernier opened the scoring at Vitality Stadium in Bournemouth, England, with a curling corner kick that beat Forest goalkeeper Matz Sels at the 25-minute mark. However, the visitors protested that the set-piece should never have been awarded.
Nineteen-year-old forward Eli Junior Kroupi then doubled the lead 15 minutes later with a stunning 22-metre strike, his fourth goal in three EPL games, underlining his growing reputation as one of the division’s brightest young talents.
The Cherries, now unbeaten in eight matches, showcased the energy and precision that have defined Iraola’s tenure.
“It was a solid win,” the 43-year-old Spaniard said during the post-match interview. “We started really strong and made a difference with the goals.”
While Forest improved after half-time, Bournemouth’s composure and control never wavered. As they continue to surpass expectations, the south coast club find themselves in genuine contention near the summit of English football’s top flight.
