Arsenal Misfire, Lose at Home

Arsenal were left firing blanks after Aston Villa thumped the home team with a 3-0 English Premier League (EPL) win at Emirates Stadium on Sunday night, 8 November.

Aston Villa were a hungry beast, taking the fight to Arsenal, with multiple goal opportunities through the game.

The pain started in the 25th minute with an own-goal from Gunners midfielder, Bukayo Saka, who tried to deflect a dangerous pass from Villa defender, Matt Targett, but let his team down by giving a free goal to the visitors.

The final nail in the coffin came from Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins, who found the back of the net twice: first in the 72nd minute, then again in the 75th minute.

Gunners boss, Mikel Arteta, did little to hide his disappointment in the post-match interview.

The 38-year-old Spaniard said: “We performed below our standards, and I have to say it’s the first time I’ve seen us play and we weren’t a team.”

Arsenal have been hit or miss in their recent performances, and their second loss means a shift to 11th spot on the EPL table.
