Arsenal Claims Emphatic Victory as Fans Return

Arsenal raged to a resounding 4-1 UEFA Europa League victory over Rapid Vienna on Thursday night, 3 December.
What made the occasion more magical was the return of fans, and the club’s beloved mascot, Gunnersaurus.
Football supporters were allowed back into the 60 000-capacity Emirates Stadium, 270 after the beautiful game was interrupted by the coronavirus pandemic – and their presence was felt by Gunners boss, Mikel Arteta.
The 38-year-old Spaniard said: “We had 2 000, but [the supporters] were loud and they were supportive to the team, so thanks to them for coming and making the effort.”
Another encouraging sight was the return of club employee, Jerry Quy – who has donned the Gunnersauarus costume for 27 years – who was saved from being fired by midfielder, Mesut Ozil, who personally covered Quy’s salary.
The atmosphere of the super-charged stadium allowed the ailing team to score two goals in each half respectively, while conceding one to the Austrian visitors.
Arsenal will next take on Tottenham Hotspur this Sunday, 6 December, on the latter’s home turf.
