Ansu Fati Breaks Barca Record

Ansu Fati made his first international debut for the Spanish national football team on Thursday, 3 September, and he broke a record while doing so.

The wonderkid from Guinea-Bissau took to the field during the UEFA Nations League match against Germany in Stuttgart, replacing Jesus Navas during the second half.

At 17 years and 308 days, the lad became the second youngest Roja player since Bojan Kirkic – 18 years and 13 days – to play for the Spaniards in 2008.

Angel Zubieta was 17 years and 282 days when he debuted in 1936, giving him the most recent honour of the title for the team – before him was Pedro Regueiro at 17 years and 161 days in 1926.

Fati has been with Barca – and the national team – since July 2019, and since then has made 33 appearances, with eight goals across all competitions.
