Ansel Elgort Addresses Sexual Assault Claims
Actor Ansel Elgort has denied the sexual assault allegations that were made against him recently.
Last Friday, 19 June, a female Twitter user – who identified herself as Gabby – accused the “Baby Driver” star of sexually assaulting her in 2014, when she had been 17-years-old at the time.
According to her claims, Gabby met Elgort – then only 20-years-old – via social media. Upon their first sexual encounter, he allegedly assaulted her to the point that he reduced her to “sobbing in pain”.
Additionally, he asked Gabby for explicit photos of herself.
In response, Elgort released a statement via Instagram on Saturday, 20 June, to deny the claims.
He wrote: “I cannot claim to understand Gabby’s feelings but her depiction of events is simply not what happened. I have never and would never assault anyone. What is true is that in New York in 2014 … Gabby and I had a brief, legal and entirely consensual relationship. Unfortunately, I did not handle the breakup [sic] well.”
Elgort ended the statement by apologising to Gabby for not responding to her when their alleged relationship ended.
