African Stars Clinch 3-2 Win over KCCA

African Stars narrowly gained a 3-2 victory over Ugandan-based outfit, Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA), in the first leg of the CAF Champion League preliminary round at Windhoek’s Sam Nujoma Stadium on Saturday, 10 August.

KCCA took the lead in the 13th minute after Stars’ defender, Ivan Kamberipa, scored into his own net. The lead lasted until the 40th minute, when forward Ambrosius Amseb converted a spot kick to level the score.

The action picked up in the second half when Youssouf Ibroihim powered home a header goal in the 71st minute, giving his team a 2-1 lead.

Twelve minutes later, KCCA’s Patrick Kaddu scored, so that the two sides were tied 2-2.

Ultimately, Ibroihim scored a long–range goal from outside the area, handing African Stars a hard-fought win.

The two sides will clash again at the return leg, which is scheduled to take place at an unspecified venue in Kampala on Friday, 23 August.
